Philip is the founder of Cereal for Coffee, father of two, and husband of Samara. Philip previously worked in sales in the education sector and has vast experience in the Apple reseller channel in Australia and New Zealand. Philip is an avid coffee drinker—borderline snob—with a deep passion for a good flat white. He is passionate about making sure every student has a good breakfast, every morning.
SAMARA SARGESON: CO-FOUNDER
Samara is the co-founder of Cereal for Coffee, mother of two, and wife of Phil. She is currently working as the Inclusive Education Teacher at Warwick Christian College . The idea for Cereal for Coffee came through her first teaching job in a state school in the Redlands. She is passionate about seeing children and families receive knowledge about the importance of breakfast and its impact on their learning.
ANGIE CREED: BOARD MEMBER
Angie is a passionate advocate for social justice and has always worked in fields that support those principles. She has spent a number of years in social services, working across drug and alcohol, housing and homeless, and children and parenting early intervention services. She currently works in the Department of Social Services where she supports Commonwealth-funded NGOs to deliver programs and services that encourage inclusion and participation. She is currently working towards a Degree in Community Development. As a parent of two school-aged children, she knows the importance of adequate nutrition to support a day’s learning and a child’s overall wellbeing. She understands the financial and logistical challenges of meeting that need as a working single parent. As a bayside local, Angie enjoys the local café culture and is a bona fide coffee snob. She is delighted to be on the Board of Management for Cereal for Coffee and lend her expertise to this worthy cause.
MARK PATCH: BOARD MEMBER
Mark is a professional consultant with more than 25 years of experience in strategic management and leadership. In 2006, he retired from the Australian Defence Force after 31 years, and started his own Brisbane-based project management consultancy specialising in governance, procurement, project management and contract management within public and private organisations. Mark is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a Certified Practicing Project Director and Certified Assessor with the Australian Institute of Project Management.
LIAM HENNESSY: BOARD MEMBER
Liam is a commercial lawyer who specialises in complex disputes, including class actions, and domestic / cross-border regulatory investigations. He has particular expertise within the financial and professional services sectors, having acted for a large number of leading financial services and advisory firms. He has over 10 years’ experience working in major law firms in London, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Happily settled in Brisbane, Liam enjoys spending time with his wife Juliet, playing golf and reading ancient history books. He is a strong supporter of Cereal for Coffee’s mission, and the support it provides for Aussie kids to help them get the most out of their education experience. Liam is dedicated to seeing the charity continue to succeed.
JULIET HENNESSY: BOARD MEMBER
Juliet is a medical doctor currently working in General Practice in Brisbane. She grew up in country NSW before relocating to Brisbane, Newcastle, London and Sydney for study and work. Having worked in various adult and pediatric hospitals (both public and private) she has gained an appreciation of the difficulties faced by disadvantaged groups in the community and is committed to helping make a change. In her spare time Juliet enjoys ballet, cooking, and playing the piano.
